LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington apartment complex is now back open after police blocked it off Friday morning in the search for a possible ‘murder’ suspect.
Police continue to investigate a homicide on Liberty Road, but things took a turn and they began also dealing with a barricade situation.
The situation ended just before noon on Friday. Officials say they searched the apartment building, but no one was inside.
The barricade situation at Revive 1749 on Liberty Road started after a man was found sitting in a car with a gunshot wound.
Police say around 10 a.m. on Friday they were dealing with a barricade situation inside apartments just down the road from the shooting.
According to a tweet from the police department the barricade situation was connected to the homicide at Gatehouse Apartments in the 1800 block of Liberty Road.
LPD says they were called around 5 a.m. for a shooting.
They found a male victim in a car suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some tenants of both apartment complexes say they did not hear or see anything.
One person spoke with ABC 36 saying nothing like this has ever happened there before and it is scary to know something like can happen where they live.
Both apartment complexes gave no comment on either the barricade or the shooting.
