A man was found dead overnight in a building across from the Salvation Army on West Main Street in Lexington, and the case is being investigated as a homicide according to media reports.

Another man arrived at a Lexington hospital early Friday seeking treatment for a gunshot wound, according to WKYT, the Herald-Leader’s reporting partner.

The coroner’s office told WKYT that the man’s death is being “investigated as a homicide.”

The two incidents happened about the same time, at roughly 2:45 a.m., according to media reports.

The killing is the city’s first so far in November after four in October, according to police statistics. There have been 33 homicides so far in 2021, one less than last year’s total of 34.
