Henry Clay High School getting $150 million renovations

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWSNOW) — As part of a four-year district facility plan, the Fayette County Public School District announced $150 million in renovations for Henry Clay High School.

“This building had reached its useful life,” FCPS COO Myron Thompson said.

There are 64 schools across the district; $2 billion in unmet facility needs made some people question this upgrade.

“We received feedback here, and at many other schools in terms of modernization, and as opposed to renovating the existing footprint, the board has elected to go with a new building,” Thompson said.

Construction is set to start in 2025 and end by 2028.
