Early-morning crash in Lexington KY kills 1, cops say
One man is dead after a Corvette he was driving ran off the road and through a guardrail in Lexington Sunday morning, according to Lexington police.
The victim was the only person involved in the single-car crash, Lexington police Sgt. Daniel Fleischer said. The crash happened at the intersection of Georgetown and Berea roads. It was called into police just after 6 a.m., Fleischer said. The victim, whose name hasn’t yet been released, died on the scene, Fleischer said.
“It’s hard to say at this point” if speed was a factor in the crash, Fleischer said. He said the Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate. The investigation was still active later Sunday morning.
Police shut down the road after the crash. It reopened around 9:15 or 9:30 a.m., Fleischer said.
