LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Tuesday! We are tracking BEAUTIFUL conditions today, with morning temperatures in the 40s for many areas and afternoon highs climbing into the mid-to-upper 70s. Enjoy this while it lasts because a big time warm-up is on the way for your Father’s Day weekend and beyond. We are entering a dry stretch that will likely last through the day on Thursday. Farmers who have yet to get a load of hay cut, now’s your time!

There is an isolated chance of a few showers and storms on Friday, though most of the activity will stay to our north. However, this rain chance does lead to a little uncertainty for the temperatures on Friday. If we are dry, expect hot temperatures in the low 90s. If we do see some showers and a few storms, expect temperatures to stay in the 80s.

The big weather story though is the high heat and humidity on the way late this weekend into next week. Temperatures in the 90s and dewpoints in the 70s are both likely. This will lead to the heat index climbing into the upper 90s, if not low the 100s. Overnight temperatures will be warm as well, likely staying in the 70s for many areas.

This pattern will likely last through the late part of June as well. There will be the chance of showers and storms into early next week as Gulf of Mexico moisture returns to the region. This rain chance will be welcomed though as it could provide some brief relief from the heat and humidity.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
