LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – If you’ve ever needed an excuse to miss work due to nice weather, today is the day. One of the nicer weather days of the entire summer on the way Monday. Here’s a Go Day Excuse note, don’t know if it will work but worth a shot right? 😉

Go Day Excuse

Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-to-upper 70s and humidity will remain very low. Most areas will be around 5-10° below average temperatures-wise. This pleasant feel continues tonight, overnight lows will return to the upper 50s for most areas. A few spots may make a run at the low-to-mid 50s as well!

The warmer temperatures will return Tuesday afternoon. The humidity will be noticeable as well. Skies will see a few more clouds than Monday, but there is no concern for any rain. As the humidity returns later in the day on Tuesday, warm overnight temperatures return Tuesday night. Lows will only fall into the low 70s for most areas.

Wednesday will be hot and humid out there once again. Afternoon highs will be pushing the low 90s for most areas. This will lead to storm chances late Wednesday evening into the overnight. The Storm Prediction Center is already highlighting areas north and west of Lexington for a severe threat Wednesday-Wednesday night.  For our area, this will likely be a nighttime threat of storms. Storms will fire up well to our north and move southward late Wednesday evening. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary severe concern, with torrential downpours possible.

Unfortunately, rain and storm chances continue into your Independence Day on Thursday. Scattered-to-numerous showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast. Storms could produce some locally heavy rainfall on 4th of July as well. If you have outdoor plans, make sure you are watching the forecast closely. We won’t see widespread issues, but be alert for heavy downpours within the slow moving storms.
