A bus full of middle school students was struck by an SUV in Lexington Thursday morning, according to Fayette County Public Schools spokeswoman Lisa Deffendall.

The accident took place at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday in the intersection of Hays Boulevard and Levi Todd Boulevard, which is near Edythe J. Hayes Middle School, Deffendall said. An SUV allegedly ran a stop sign and hit the bus.

Approximately 60 students were on board at the time of the collision, per Deffendall. None were transported to the hospital but some elected to go home with their parents while the rest went to school.
