Local family uses Christmas lights to give back to community

WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Jannings family take the holidays very serious.

“I grew up with my dad doing crazy lights, we were the crazy Griswold house in the neighborhood,” Shane Jannings said.

Shane and his wife Kristen have lived at 414 Rose Drive for 12 years. Each year their light show gets bigger and better.

“He has a program that tells each pixel what color to be,” Kristen said. “That’s why getting the program and getting the music takes a lot of time.”

The magic on the lawn is orchestrated by Shane in his office inside. It’s a lot of effort and time, but they say it’s all worth it.

Shane starts getting ready for the light show in August, so by December their house is decked out in lights and decorations.

Kristen says you can come by, turn your radio to 93.5 FM and watch the show.

While you’re watching, the Jannings encourage their audience to visit their website Earlymeade Epic Lights to make a donation to Clark County Community Services.

“It’s rough out there for a lot of people and really rough for some,” Shane said. “If you come enjoy the lights and can spare a couple bucks, just click on it and help people out in your community.”

The Jannings light show is on weekdays from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
