Nice weather continues ahead of potential tropical impacts late week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Monday! After a cold start to the day, we will warming up a bit this afternoon back into the upper 70s near 80. We continue this warming trend through the middle of the week, reaching the upper 80s by Wednesday. Changes are on the way late week as we will be dealing with tropical moisture moving into the region. Now formed Tropical Storm Francine will be moving through the Gulf of Mexico this week, eventually making landfall along the Louisiana coastline. After this system makes landfall, it will likely be pushing up the Mississippi valley. The end of this week is where things get tricky.
The current forecast has this system stalling out somewhere in the Ohio/Tennessee River valley. This is thanks to a blocking ridge of high pressure over the Great Lakes. The big question is where exactly this system stalls out. If it stalls out further west, we would see less impacts locally. If it stalls out over western Kentucky or western Tennessee, we would see a couple days worth of rain showers and storms across the region.
