Warming up again on Wednesday ahead of late week rain chances
Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! We are tracking another chilly start, turning into a very warm afternoon. Highs today will climb into the mid-to-upper 80s, near 90 in spots. This will be the warmest day of the week ahead of rain chances returning by Friday. Thursday will be a day of change across the region with cloud cover increasing throughout the day. This increased cloud cover will be well out ahead of the remnants of now Hurricane Francine.
We’ve been able to fine tune the forecast for the impacts of the remnants of Francine for our area. The heaviest of the rain now looks to stay well to our west, though scattered rain and a few storms will be in the forecast for central Kentucky on Friday. Eastern Kentucky, most of this rain will likely stay to your west. The remnants of Francine will likely stall to our west on Friday into Saturday. This will keep some rain chances around, but again we will likely be on the far northeastern side of a lot of this rain. The further west of I-75 that you are, the higher chance you have of seeing lingering shower and a few storms on Saturday. The further east that you are from I-75, the lower chance you have of experiencing lingering shower and storms on Saturday.
Moisture will likely linger around to close out the week, though our rain chances are highly dependent on where exactly the remnants of Francine meander off to. The models still don’t have a very good grasp of where this will take place. There aren’t a lot of upper level winds to push the remnants out of the area. We will be stuck with some added cloud cover with the chance of some lingering showers Sunday into Monday. Right now it doesn’t look like either day will feature a healthy amount of rain.
