Whitley County man arrested in child sexual abuse material investigation

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Electronic Crime Branch has arrested Pierce Hamblin, 47, following an investigation into child sexual abuse material. Hamblin was taken into custody on December 6, as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation.

According to KSP, the investigation began after a complaint alleged that Hamblin was secretly recording juveniles inside his residence. Hamblin was interviewed and subsequently charged with multiple felonies, including:

  • Three counts of Promoting a Minor Under the Age of 16 in a Sexual Performance, a Class-B felony punishable by 10-20 years in prison.
  • Two counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Minor Under the Age of 18, a Class-C felony punishable by 5-10 years in prison.
  • One count of Possession of Matter Portraying a Minor Over the Age of 12 in a Sexual Performance, a Class-D felony punishable by 1-5 years in prison.

Hamblin is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center. KSP has confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Further charges or updates may follow as the case develops.
